After the Church of Jesus Christ had been restored, the Lord directed the early Saints to establish a school for those preparing for missionary service 鈥� a school that was later named the School of the Prophets.

2. Seek opportunities to teach others
The Lord encouraged the missionaries to share what they were learning with others: 鈥淭each ye diligently and my grace shall attend you, that you may be instructed more perfectly.鈥�

Teaching is one of the most effective ways to reinforce what you鈥檙e learning personally. The next time you want to test your knowledge on a particular subject, share what you鈥檙e learning with your peers, friends, and family. As you do, the Lord will help you to communicate what you鈥檝e learned and better understand your studies.
3. Keep your body healthy
The School of the Prophets was held in a room above the Newel K. Whitney and Company store.
In the School of the Prophets, the Lord commanded Church members to seek foods that strengthen the body 鈥� vegetables, fruits, and grains 鈥� and to avoid harmful substances like tobacco and alcohol. This law of health became known as the Word of Wisdom.
